THE JOURNEY

From Nagykanizsa to Milan

A decade of discipline, doubt, and determination

EARLY YEARS
A Multi-Sport Prodigy in Nagykanizsa
Growing up in the small Hungarian city of Nagykanizsa, young Levente excelled in everything he tried — kayaking, duathlon, triathlon, swimming, and competitive chess. He won 4 national duathlon and 2 national triathlon championships before dedicating himself fully to the water.
2015–2019 — FOUNDATION
Training Under a Legend
At the Plastex Kanizsa Kayak Club, Levente trained under Nándor Sári — the legendary coach who had prepared Olympic champions Kammerer, Storcz, and two-time Olympic champion Horváth. By 2019, he already stood on the ORV podium at U16 level with silvers in 1000m and 500m, and a K-2 200m gold in Bratislava.
2021 — HISTORIC
Triple European Champion — A Record Never Achieved Before
At the Junior European Championships in Poznan, Levente did what no kayaker had ever done: won all three individual K-1 distances at a single European Championship. At the Junior Worlds in Portugal, he added two silvers and a bronze — six international medals in one season.

DECEMBER 2021 — LOSS
The Day Everything Changed
Coach Nándor Sári passed away suddenly from a heart attack at age 64. At just 18, Levente lost his mentor. Instead of giving up, he studied Sári's handwritten training journals, built his own support team, and charted his own path forward.
2022 — REBUILDING
The Transition to Senior
New coaches, new training systems. At the U23 Worlds in Szeged, a K-4 500m silver showed he belonged at the top level. But at the Senior Worlds in Halifax, 6th place in K-2 Mix 500m left him hungry for more.

2024 — SO CLOSE
0.05 Seconds From the Olympics
Won the Hungarian Olympic selection race for K-2 500m, but missed the Paris 2024 Olympics by approximately 0.05 seconds. He channeled the pain into fuel — racing to a Senior European Championship bronze in K-2 200m, a U23 World Championship silver in Plovdiv, and winning the Hungarian Championship K-1 500m title.

2025 — WORLD CHAMPION
Gold in Milan — The Dream Realized
Partnered with Bence Nádas, they formed what both knew was a "gold-winning unit." After a World Cup victory in Szeged, they arrived in Milan for the ICF World Championships. Despite Nádas waking up ill on finals day, they won gold in K-2 500m with a time of 1:28.28 from lane 9. Levente became the first world champion from Nagykanizsa in any individual Olympic sport.

2026+ — THE FUTURE
Eyes on Los Angeles 2028
Now training at the Kovács Katalin National Kayak Academy under coach Viktor Huvös. The path is clear: European and World Championship medals, and ultimately, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The Coach Who Started It All: Nándor Sári

Nándor Sári was more than a coach — he was the architect of champions. From the small-town Plastex Kanizsa Kayak Club, he produced Olympic gold medalists and world champions. His handwritten training journals, meticulous periodization, and unwavering belief in his athletes shaped the foundation of everything K Performance stands for today.

"He will accomplish much with this dedication and enthusiasm, barring injury or illness." — Sári Nándor about Levente, 2021

PHILOSOPHY

The Analytical Athlete

Where data meets discipline

"We didn't say it out loud with Bence, but we knew this was a gold-winning unit."
— LEVENTE KURUCZ, 2025

"I saw my potential and I knew the difficult times weren't because that was all I had."
— KKNA INTERVIEW, 2025

📊 DATA-DRIVEN

Studies cardiac data, pulse zones, and sports diagnostics. Pulls methodology from professional cycling — which he considers the most advanced endurance sport.

🛠 EQUIPMENT INNOVATOR

Works directly with Plastex boat manufacturer and designer Ryszard Seruga on hull design, researching every advantage in equipment and technique.

🧠 MENTAL PERFORMANCE

Works with a sports psychologist. Focuses on "the next step ahead" rather than dwelling on setbacks. "I always look at the nearest goal."

📖 SELF-BUILT SYSTEM

After losing his coach at 18, he built his own support team from scratch — physiologists, psychologists, strength coaches — studying Sári's handwritten journals to understand periodization.

Why I Built K Performance

I built K Performance to share the system that took me from a small-town kayak club to the top of the world. Not just the workouts — but the thinking, the structure, and the discipline behind them. Whether you're training for Ironman, building strength, or optimizing nutrition — the principles are the same.
